The World could be on fire, but would we know?

    Updated: Feb 10

There's a Spotify curated playlist I love called Discover Weekly. It usually has a couple gems. This song came up on my way home late one night. I was pretty drowsy. Something about it grabbed me, drew me closer, inhale—exhale. How amazing it is that we know if we like a song within the first 2-7 seconds. If we know we like a song in that time, do we know if we like a person that quickly?

It's all just vibration. A song has a certain vibration or vibe. And so do people.

I was not surprised to see the album art of this song I so love has this symbol– a CROWN! Angels are always communicating with us and giving us signs.

    the words

The lyrics of this song spoke to me. I've been dealing with a challenging situation. From the outside, they are beautiful people, successful and kind. After spending some true present moment quality time, I touched beneath the surface – & found, lots of dysfunction, neglect, secrets, confusion, isolation.

With everything going on, this song made me think: The World Could Be on Fire and We Wouldn't Know. It looks good? It seems ok? But is it really? We are mostly living on the surface.

Is our society in so much denial we can't meet the sometimes difficult to face Truth?

    current read: blink

I have always had a radar for people. Call it intuition. Spidey senses. Magical powers. I know when something just isn't right. And I'm glad I have Malcolm Gladwell to back me up.

This book really answers the question: Do we know if we like a person within the first 2-7 seconds? The short answer is Yes.

Notable Quotes by Malcolm Gladwell / BLINK: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking

There can be as much value in the blink of an eye as in months of rational analysis.

Did they know why they knew? Not at all. But they Knew!

Our world requires that decisions be sourced and footnoted, and if we say how we feel, we must also be prepared to elaborate on why we feel that way. I think that approach is a mistake, and if we are to learn to improve the quality of the decisions we make, we need to accept the mysterious nature of our snap judgements. We need to respect the fact that it is possible to know without knowing why we know and accept that — sometimes — we’re better off that way.

Insight is not a lightbulb that goes off inside our heads. It is a flickering candle that can easily be snuffed out.

Worthy read, especially if you are in your mind a lot and want to understand it. And that is most of us!

    lyrics

    World on Fire feat. Ashe

    I keep watching the world

Chase their circles in their places

Joining the race inside a maze

Look 'round, are you one of them?

Yeah, see how they can all see

    Pointless and worry

    So down to hurry

The world could be on fire And we wouldn't know

    The temperature is rising

    And no one knows

    We'll hide behind the money

    That's the way it goes

The world could be on fire

    And we wouldn't know

    Complaining about the same things

    Not watching where we're going

Ending up 50 Somehow with nothing

Oh, don't listen to what they say

    I admit I know that I have

    Don't be the same

    Don't be the same

The world could be on fire And we wouldn't know

And so it goes another day here

Passing by I saw it waving from the window

    Could you save me?

Keep taking time, taking your time

    But there's no time left

    Listen for it's almost over

The world could be on fire

    And we wouldn't know

    The temperature is rising

    And no one knows

    We'll hide behind the money

    That's the way it goes

The world could be on fire

    And we wouldn't know
